There are only to go until the year 2000

Year 2000 Standards

There are no universally accepted standards for Year 2000 (Y2K) compliance. After careful consideration of definitions available throughout our own and other industries, Making Light Work has adopted the British Standards Institute's definition of Y2K compliance as found in document PD2000-1:1998:

Year 2000 conformity shall mean that neither performance nor functionality is affected by dates prior to, during and after the year 2000. In particular:

Rule 1 No value for current date will cause any interruption in operation.
Rule 2 Date-based functionality must behave consistently for dates prior to, during and after year 2000.
Rule 3 In all interfaces and data storage, the century in any date must be specified either explicitly or by unambiguous algorithms or inferencing rules.
Rule 4 Year 2000 must be recognized as a leap year

Currently, all of Making Light Works' mission critical business systems are, as of 10/06/1999, Y2K compliant. In addition, all of our business infrastructure software (e.g. windows packages, PC BIOS, operating systems, etc.) are also compliant.

Making Light Work is currently assessing the Year 2000 readiness of all client/partner-provided products and services that use date data and is seeking written assurances from all client partners that their products and services are Year 2000 ready or will be Year 2000 ready well in advance of January 1, 2000.
